Airbnb took the internet by storm by offering an alternative to expensive hotels in urban and rural areas alike. Unfortunately, Airbnb is not as new as it used to be. This means that more people know about the app which means that there is more competition for the best Airbnbs in certain areas. This also means that the prices have increased, which is enough to have individuals looking for other alternatives.

VRBO

VRBO is perhaps the most popular alternative to Airbnb because they offer the same style of lodging options. Whether you are looking for a pastel house on the beach or an airstream in the woods, VRBO has something for you. The process is the same as Airbnb in that you will make your booking through an app. You can also individuals that individuals leave on the places, so you will know what you are getting into before arriving and be able to find the temporary home that is best for you.

HomeAway

Speaking of VRBO, did you know that HomeAway is a parent company to them? It’s true, which explains why you may see some of the same listings on VRBO that you see on HomeAway. Nonetheless, the listings aren’t all the same. This is a great option if there is a listing on VRBO that looks great, but it is booked for the dates that you need. You may be able to find something similar on HomeAway for the same price.

Booking.com

We’ve all heard the commercials for Booking.com, but a lot of people have not checked it out for finding a place to stay while on business or vacation. While they aren’t going to place you in someone’s home, they can find you the best rate on a hotel room. This is nice when you want the pampering that comes with a hotel but don’t feel like forking over the cash for it.

FlipKey

FlipKey is a company that is owned by TripAdvisor, so you know that you will be able to find great reviews on the sites that are available for rent. FlipKey works like Airbnb with the exception being that there are no shared rooms. Tenants can either book the whole room or the entire property with this company.

Overall, there are plenty of alternatives to Airbnb if you feel like it is just too bogged down with users.
